Project Overview

A newer Silverado with swirl marks introduced at the dealership during pre-delivery prep. A single-stage correction removed the defects and a ceramic coating was applied to protect the finish going forward. Delivered with a flawless, deep black finish.

Condition on Arrival

What we were working with.

The truck was only a few months old but had been swirled during dealership pre-delivery prep. The black paint made the swirl marks highly visible under any direct light source. The owner wanted the defects corrected and the finish protected before they became worse.

Key Challenges

Correcting swirl marks on black paint without introducing new defects
Achieving a flawless finish on a vehicle with very little clear coat wear
Selecting the correct correction stage to avoid over-cutting a newer clear coat

Process

How the work was done.

01

Paint Measurement

Paint thickness measurements taken across all panels to establish baseline before any correction.

02

Decontamination

Full decontamination wash and clay bar treatment despite the vehicle's age — dealership contamination is common on new vehicles.

03

Single-Stage Correction

Targeted single-stage correction to remove dealership swirl marks. Product and machine speed carefully selected for a newer clear coat.

04

Panel Inspection

Each panel inspected under high-intensity lighting after correction before proceeding.

05

Ceramic Coating

5-year ceramic coating applied to protect the corrected finish from future swirling and environmental damage.

Final Results

What was delivered.

All dealership-introduced swirl marks were removed. The ceramic coating means the owner can maintain the truck without reintroducing swirls, provided proper wash technique is used. The finish was delivered in better condition than it left the factory.
